Echocardiogram (Echo)

An echocardiogram uses high frequency sound waves (ultrasound) from a hand-held probe placed on your chest to create images of the heart chambers, valves, walls and nearby blood vessels. During an Echo, your sonographer will be able to view live images of your heart pumping, and identify areas that are not working normally. The echo can also detect damage to heart structure or functionality that may have occurred during a heart attack.
